Blasius gives the misguided impression that he is not the more alpha of the pair, seeing as Ryan ends up giving in and manhandling him and is 'top dog' in their encounter. Once Ryan gives in and starts bonding with his wolf and his mate, he starts learning to control his wolf. But he's constantly fighting his feelings and feeling constrained by circumstances of his new existence. Blasius on the other hand is too uncomfortable with how he came to 'be' in this life that its like making a mountain out of a mole hill for me.
Up sides to this story.. After the hunters from the previous book regroup and show up again hunters after hunters is getting old.. View 2 comments. Nov 13, Katalina rated it really liked it. Good read with some interesting new twists and finally a book without the pond being used as the only way to save someone. Aug 17, Phaney rated it it was ok Shelves: m-m. The beginning is all summary and indirect descriptions of dramatic scenes. While that is off-putting in one way those would have been interesting scenes to witness it does help to establish how much time has passed with all this.
But I wish the author had kept track of the length of that time. He keeps insisting of being unreasonable, despite knowing better.

Endangering others — children even — ju The beginning is all summary and indirect descriptions of dramatic scenes. Endangering others — children even — just because you feel like pouting is not okay. Perhaps some of the close-to-end elements are becoming rather repetitive. Again dying and being healed from that? That can be achieved otherwise just fine.
And again with the starting of a future book in this one. And it is not a setup that makes me happy.

Eh, maybe I am just not in a good mood today but I found this read a little unsatisfying. I am considering jumping series. Sep 09, Ayanna rated it it was ok Shelves: reviewed , meh , consummate-pulp. I don't like it. It could have been good, but I seem to have a natural prejudice against authors that make their characters Scottish-y.
First off, the transcribed accent is annoying to read and just looks off. Secondly, it's the sort of stupid gimmick I used to use when I wanted to create a false sense of mystery. Don't ask me why I did it; I have no idea either. Nonetheless, when characters go all Scottish-y I say that because often, it's only vaguely like the impression of Scottish , it r Eh. Nonetheless, when characters go all Scottish-y I say that because often, it's only vaguely like the impression of Scottish , it reminds me of stupid gimmicks I used before when I dabbled with writing in middle school.
Added to that, the "accent" is inconsistent. It randomly goes to "ye" and "yer" when the character's been "speaking "you" and "you're" perfectly fine a couple of lines above. And then that pond. That stupid pond. That still bugs me. There are also certain proofreading errors. And you know, it occurs to me that if I ever bother to read this thing in order, I'd probably pick up some sort of continuity from this.
There actually seems to be some kind of possibly interesting overplot going on. I'm giving this a 3 but it's a pretty generous 3.
I really love this series and the Dewitt pack in general but this story was just a let down! First of all the plot was all over the place and the romance between Ryan and Blasius was even worse. The basic plot of the story is that they were mated in a previous life but it wasbrutally cut I'm giving this a 3 but it's a pretty generous 3.
Taken by the Alpha Wolf [DeWitt's Pack 9] on Apple Books
The basic plot of the story is that they were mated in a previous life but it wasbrutally cut short. But to be honest they only mentioned their past once and still left out so much it was hard to understand.

Ryan was injured in the last battle between hunters and werewolves, and Blasius has no choice but to force him out of his human life and turn him into a werewolf to keep death from separating them once more. As a new werewolf, living by the laws of the pack is entirely different from the laws of a human, and Ryan doesn't know if he can adjust to this new way of life.
